GKG’s Senior Manager receives AFCEA Distinguished Young Professional Award at WEST 2022

Reston, VA – February 17, 2022

Golden Key Group (GKG) is in San Diego for WEST 2022, the premier naval conference and exposition on the West Coast. Co-sponsored by AFCEA International and the U.S. Naval Institute, the annual WEST event brings military and industry leaders together.

GKG’s Senior Manager, Anneli Connell, began the conference by accepting the AFCEA Distinguished Young Professional Award. The award recognizes and rewards exceptional performance in four areas: leadership and guidance for the AFCEA Emerging Leader program; superior technical achievement in the professional arena; a record of going above and beyond expectations at the local AFCEA chapter or regional level; and mentoring other AFCEA Emerging Leaders.

“As co-chair of AFCEA Women in Nova (WIN), I find it incredibly rewarding to connect with a diverse group of women in the government and professional services industry,” said Connell. “Though I have a behind-the-scenes role, I get as much – or more – out of AFCEA WIN events as our attendees do, thanks to incredible leaders in the D.C. area who are willing to participate as speakers and panelists.”

AFCEA WIN is focused on programming that supports, improves, and increases women’s participation, impact, and opportunities.

Attending WEST 2022 is of strategic importance to GKG, who is interested in expanding its support of Navy forces.

“Over the course of my 32-year military career, I saw, firsthand, how companies like GKG help the Navy remain prepared to execute its mission and defend American interests around the globe,” said GKG’s president, Jeffrey Fowler, a retired Navy Vice Admiral. “WEST 2022 is a great opportunity to learn about future needs of the Navy and connect with leaders.”

GKG was awarded the Navy Seaport Next Generation contract vehicle in 2021.
